Sheila DillonSheila Dillon
Sheila is the presenter of the award-winning BBC Radio 4 Food Programme, renowned for investigative reporting of food poverty, food education, food science, food production – and good food.

Sally HoggSally Hogg
is Deputy Director of Partnerships & Engagement, NHS Suffolk, which includes Healthy Ambitions Suffolk (HAS). It is an alliance of all of Suffolk’s leading public services, the private and independent sectors, community groups and individuals, aiming to decrease preventable illnesses by encouraging people to make small life-style changes.

Tim LangTim Lang
Tim is Professor of Food Policy at City University London. Engaged for the past 30 years in academic research and public debate on food policy, he is author of many publications. He advises government and international organisations on food security, human and environmental health – and he coined the phrase ‘food miles’.

Dr Tom MacMillan
Tom is executive director of the Food Ethics Council, providing independent research and advice on food issues – and promoting understanding of the vital role good food plays in our lives. A member of the advisory panel for the Cabinet Office Strategy Unit’s Food Matters report, Tom sits on the BBSRC Science & Society Strategy Panel. He is also director of the Brighton & Hove Food Partnership.

John SteinJohn Stein, FRCPath
Is Professor for Neurophysiology at the University of Oxford and is Chair of the Dyslexia Trust. He teaches neuroscience, demonstrating the role of vision and nutrition in controlling movement and behaviour in neurological patients, dyslexics, children with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) and young offenders. Currently he is leading a study at three young offenders’ institutions, investigating the link between nutrition and anti-social behaviour.

Mike Duckett, MBE
Mike has been Catering Services Manager at the Royal Brompton Hospital for nine years, working to improve NHS food. He leads the London Hospitals Food Project, introducing fresh and organic food for patients and staff. His initiatives have resulted in quicker recovery times and reduced costs.

Marie FrancisMarie Francis, OBE
Chairs the Sustainable Food and Farming Group for the East of England and works closely with the region’s agri-food industry, ensuring its views can influence government support for the industry in the region.

Yvonne MooresYvonne Moores
Is part of the Economic Development team at Suffolk County Council which is looking at the economics of the Suffolk food supply chain and the development of a Suffolk food hub to increase accessibility of local food, create new large-scale markets for it and lessen distribution costs.

Clare ChacksfieldClare Chacksfield
Is director of Eastfeast, the Suffolk-based educational charity, which helps schools develop an outdoor classroom, delivering more effective learning through food and art and by working a school allotment culminating in a community feast. Eastfeast school children and teachers will contribute to the discussion.

Fabio Santos & Lucy NealLucy Neal, OBE, and Fabio Santos
Lucy is Co-Chair of Transition Town Tooting and Fabio is Artistic Director of Phakama. They have worked together since 1994 – first at the London Festival of Theatre, which started FEAST in 2004 (the inspiration behind Eastfeast) and more recently on The Trashcatcher Carnival, bringing together arts and climate change. Lucy and Fabio will describe how to engage with the community and initiate change through celebration.

Nick Saltmarsh
Nick will be rapporteur for the conference, noting the important points raised and assisting the chairman. Nick is founding partner of Provenance, where his work includes market development for a Suffolk organic vegetable producer and editing Defra’s sustainable development newsletter. He has previously worked at East Anglia Food Link, for an organic wholesaler, as a picker of wild mushrooms and on a goat farm.
