FAQs

VISITORS TO THE FESTIVAL

Where and when does the Festival take place?
The 2011 Festival Conference entitled, ‘Suffolk & the Sea’ will take place on Friday 23rd September in the Hoffmann Building, Snape Maltings, Suffolk IP17 1SR

The Weekend Festival will take place at Snape Maltings on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th September. On Saturday the Festival will be open from 10am – 5pm and on Sunday from 10am – 4pm.

The Fringe events will run throughout East Suffolk from Saturday 24th September – Saturday 18th October.

How do I get tickets and how much are they?
On line booking is now closed as we will be unable to guarantee that you will receive your tickets prior to the Festival.

Tickets are available for purchase ‘on the gate’ – £7 on the gate. Weekend tickets are £12 on the gate. No charges for children aged 12 and under, nor is there a charge to park on site.

Do you take credit cards?
On the whole, no. There may be a few exhibitors who have credit card facilities, but cash and good old fashioned cheque books are recommended otherwise.

Do you have cashpoint facilities?
There are no ATM machines on site, however, with a purchase of £5 or more you may ask for cashback in the House and Garden retail outlet at Snape Maltings.

Is there disabled access?
Yes – please make yourself known to the carpark attendants who will offer you parking closer to the Festival. There are ramps into the marquees.

Are there things for children to do?
Yes – plenty. Taste new, exciting food, take part in cooking and art activities, listen to music, come and see! It’s a great family day out – especially as there are no entry charges for children aged 12 and under.

Can we bring dogs to the Festival?
You may bring your dog to Snape Maltings, and keep it on a lead whilst you walk around the outside exhibitors’ pitches. However, we regret that it will not be allowed into the marquees, Aldeburgh music buildings or Snape Maltings retail outlets, unless it is a registered guide dog for which we make exceptions.

EXHIBITORS AT THE FESTIVAL

I am keen to exhibit at the Festival – how do I find out more information?
The Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival is a celebration of food and drink from the Suffolk Coast and Heaths. Please bear in mind that entry to the Festival is restricted to those producers meeting certain criteria, details of which are as follows:

- potential exhibitors must be based in East Suffolk

- products sold must, in the main, be sourced, i.e. grown, made, foraged or reared, here in East Suffolk

- products sold must be available from retail outlets all year round, eg farm shops, delis, local supermarkets who support local produce

The Festival organisers take great care to ensure that there is a wide variety of produce at the Festival and that similar products are not duplicated too many times.  It is therefore with regret, that occasionally it is necessary to decline a producer’s application.  In this situation producers are welcome to reapply in following years.

If you meet these criteria, please email jenny@aldeburghfoodanddrink.co.uk with details of your business and what you would like to showcase at the Festival.  You may be asked to send in samples together with promotional literature.
