The End of the Line |
|
| |
The first major feature documentary film revealing the impact of overfishing on our oceans. In the film we see firsthand the effects of our global love affair with fish as food. It examines the imminent extinction of bluefin tuna, brought on by increasing western demand for sushi; the impact on marine life resulting in huge overpopulation of jellyfish; and the profound implications of a future world with no fish that would bring certain mass starvation.
Filmed over two years, The End of the Line follows the investigative reporter Charles Clover as he confronts politicians and celebrity restaurateurs, who exhibit little regard for the damage they are doing to the oceans.
Charles Clover will attend the screening in Friday 2 October and will take part in a Q&A after the film.

Talk and Apple Walk |
|
| |
How to save a local village shop- run for and by the community and walk to Waklyns Agroforestry Farm.
Metfield Stores is in its 4th year of trading as a community run village shop, in a small north Suffolk village. Regularly asked: 'How can I save my village shop from closing?’: the founders will tell their story and answer your questions.
After a 40min talk, we will walk across the fields to Wakelyns Agroforestry, Fressingfield. The farm's 60 acres is divided into three agroforestry systems. The agricultural projects are rotated around these systems, investigating cereals, potatoes and mixed vegetable cropping, typically planted in between these tree belts. www.woodfieldorganics.com/Images/uploads/Wakelyns_Farm.pdf
The walk will be led by Eddie Krutysza, our local rose and fruit tree grower, who will tell and show us apple trees, in an early celebration of Apple Day - officially on October 21st. We can also offer apple identification, and a full range of our local apples and apple juices.
We hope to have the services of our local community bus to bring us all back to the village shop at the end of the walk, where we can enjoy a cup of tea and Village Kitchen cake.
