Bread Zone

Brand new for 2013 we have a dedicated Bread Zone at the Festival. You'll find bread making workshops from the area's leading bakers, talks from the Real Bread Campaign and the Marriage's Bread Making Competition, as well as a fascinating display from the Woodbridge Tide Mill.

The Bread Zone will be open all weekend in the Britten Studio in the Hoffman Building.

Marriage's Baking Competition If you love baking bread why not enter our the Marriage’s Baking Competition! Classes include:

  • Handmade loaf
  • Own recipe specialist loaf
  • Sourdough
  • Junior Bread Maker (10 – 16 year olds)

Get baking and if you purchase a bag of Marriages’ flour to make your competition entry, bring in the receipt and you will be reimbursed with a free bag of flour. . Bring your loaf to the new ‘Bread Zone’ in the Hoffmann Building at Snape Maltings by 11am on Saturday 28th September. No additional charge to enter the Festival other than normal admission charge to Festival. Judging will take place at 1pm on Saturday 28th with the winners announced at 3.30pm on the Marquee Stage. Please leave your loaf at the Festival for all to appreciate and if you do wish to take it home, please collect it between 4 and 5pm on Sunday.

Woodbridge Tide Mill Display
A fascinating display about the long history of the Woodbridge Tide Mill with interactive models, audio stations, videos, display panels, life-size cut-outs of the miller’s family and cats and a children's dressing up box. Woodbridge Tide ill was the last commercially working tide mill in the UK and has been restored to working order.
